Getting Started

How will MattyMode work on iOS?

The core experience will be the same as Android — a Setup Wizard, parent PIN, calming activities, and timer mode. You'll set up your preferences once and then tap Start to launch into a focused, full-screen play session.

Will it work on both iPhone and iPad?

Yes. MattyMode for iOS will be a universal app that works on both iPhone and iPad. The iPad version will take advantage of the larger screen for drawing and bubble activities.

Guided Access (iOS)

How does MattyMode keep my child in the app on iOS?

Within MattyMode, leaving an activity session requires the parent PIN. MattyMode does not programmatically lock your iPhone or iPad. For system-level app restriction, Apple's built-in Guided Access feature keeps your device focused on a single app and lets you control which features are available.

Unlike Android's screen pinning, Guided Access requires a one-time setup in iOS Settings. MattyMode does not programmatically configure Guided Access — parents enable it independently.

How do I set up Guided Access?

Go to Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access and turn it on. Set a Guided Access passcode (this can be different from your MattyMode PIN). Once enabled, triple-click the Side Button (or Home Button on older devices) to start Guided Access when MattyMode is open.

How do I exit Guided Access?

Triple-click the Side Button (or Home Button) and enter your Guided Access passcode. This exits Guided Access mode and returns you to normal phone use. You can also use Face ID or Touch ID if you've enabled them for Guided Access.

What about phone calls on iOS?

During Guided Access, incoming phone calls will still come through. You can answer or decline, and MattyMode returns to the foreground after. Notifications are hidden during Guided Access.

PIN & Recovery

Does PIN recovery work the same on iOS?

Yes. The recovery chain is identical: parent PIN → recovery question (after 5 failed attempts) → emergency code (after 5 failed answers). The emergency code is the same daily MMDD format on both platforms.

Can I get permanently locked out on iOS?

No. In addition to the in-app recovery options, you can always exit Guided Access using your iOS passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. You can also delete and reinstall the app to start fresh.

Activities

Will all three activities be available on iOS?

Yes. Drawing Canvas, Bubble Touch, and Photo Viewer will all be available at launch. The experience will be nearly identical to Android, with the same color palette, bubble physics, and photo viewing.

How will the Photo Viewer work on iOS?

The same as Android — you'll select photos from your device's photo library in Parent Settings. Photos stay on your device and are never uploaded. iOS uses the system photo picker, which gives you access to your full Photos library including albums.

Where are saved drawings stored on iOS?

Saved drawings will be stored in your Photos app, in a MattyMode album. From there you can share, edit, or delete them like any other photo.

On Android, drawings save to the Pictures/MattyMode folder. On iOS, they save to a MattyMode album in the Photos app.

Is there really a secret mode in Bubble Touch?

We can neither confirm nor deny that tapping certain corners in a certain order might unlock Bubble Rush — something fun for parents after the kids are asleep. We've heard the sequence starts in the top-left, but that's just a rumor. 🤫

Differences from Android

What's different between the Android and iOS versions?

The core experience is the same on both platforms. The main differences are in how each operating system keeps the session focused and how files are stored:

Staying focused: Android uses screen pinning (automatic). iOS uses Guided Access (requires one-time setup). Neither is controlled by MattyMode.

Saved drawings: Android saves to Pictures/MattyMode folder. iOS saves to Photos app in a MattyMode album.

Photo selection: Both use the system photo picker. The interface looks different but works the same way.

Haptics: Both platforms support haptic feedback. The feel may differ slightly between devices.

Will my purchase transfer between Android and iOS?

No. Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store) are separate stores with separate purchases. If you switch platforms, you would need to purchase the app again. Theme purchases are also platform-specific. This is standard across all apps — Apple and Google do not share purchase history.

Will settings sync between devices?

No. MattyMode stores everything locally with no cloud sync. This is intentional — no accounts means no data leaves your device. Each device is set up independently, whether it's Android or iOS.

Data & Privacy

Is the privacy policy the same for iOS?

Yes. The same privacy commitments apply to both platforms: no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no accounts. Core activities work offline. Internet access may be used only for optional platform-managed purchases or purchase restoration. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

How do I reset everything on iOS?

Delete the MattyMode app from your device. All settings, PIN, recovery questions, and photo selections are removed. Reinstall from the App Store and the Setup Wizard will run again. Your original purchase is retained — you won't be charged again.

Themes & Additional Experiences

Will themes be available on iOS?

Yes. The same themes will be available on both platforms: Ocean, Forest, Sunset, Birthday Party, Deep Space, Dino Land, Winter Holiday, and Spooky Season. Default and Ocean are included free. Additional themes will be offered individually and as bundles through the App Store.

Will Shape Matching and Explore & Play come to iOS?

Yes. When these experiences are ready, they'll be available on both Android and iOS. The iPad's larger screen will be especially well-suited for both.
